NIMC staff begins warning strike over over funding, exposure to COVID-19

The staff of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has, on Thursday, commenced 2-day warning strike. The staff of below grade-12, embarked on the strike to demand Covid-19 safety measures for the NIMC staff and for an improved salary structure. This was made known in a communique signed by the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) NIMC unit Chairman, Asekokhai Lucky Michael, and the unit’s secretary, Odia Victor. “Subsequent upon the last just concluded Congress of the above mentioned association that held 6th January, 2021. “The Unit Executive hereby directs all members of Grade Level 12 and below in the Head Office and all states offices to report to their respective duty post tomorrow (today) 7th January, 2021 and do nothing”, the communique read. The association advised staff to distance themselves from all offices and special centres as compliance would be ensured by its task force and implementation committee.
