One person has been confirmed dead, and about 600 people displaced following a rainstorm that ravaged the Iloko community in the Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.

It was reported in March that residents and traders of Iloko-Ijesa in the state lost property worth millions of naira to a heavy rainfall that wreaked havoc in the town and destroyed homes of residents.

Giving a report on the assessment of the damage on Wednesday, the National Emergency Management Agency, in a statement posted on its X handle wrote, “NEMA Southwest Zonal Office, in collaboration with Osun State SEMA and community leaders, assessed the rainstorm disaster in Iloko, Oriade LGA of Osun State.

“The team, led by AZC Olanrewaju Kazeem, was warmly received by Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe.

“The Oba and community leaders appreciated the quick response and briefed the team on the situation.

“The assessment revealed extensive damage, including property destruction, loss of livelihoods, and one fatality. Over a thousand people were affected, and 600 displaced.”
