Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command, acting on credible intelligence, arrested 90 suspects from raiding notorious spots at Obalende, Adeniji and Lagos Island areas of the state.
A post confirming the arrests on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Command, said the exercise was held at midnight with the teams combing the deadly spots in those areas.
“The exercise was aimed at reducing criminal activities in the areas as the all-male suspects have been handed over to the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce),” the post said.
Consequently, the Commander Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Shola Jejeloye has directed the squad’s riders to extend their operations to Lekki, Jakande Roundabout and VGC areas of the state.
Recall that the RRS had in conjunction with the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) embarked on convoy patrol of some areas in the metropolis to reassure Lagosians of the safety of their lives and property.
The convoy patrol was also meant to promote visibility policing and to keep the men alert for emergencies as the exercise is scheduled to be held regularly to keep the men in readiness for action.
