According to the Ogun State Police Command, an inquiry has been opened to solve the mystery surrounding the death of an unidentified National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in the state.

The deceased NYSC member’s body was found in the Ogijo neighborhood of Kadesh.

The corps member’s body was found on Sunday, according to the police, after locals reported the incident to the Ogijo Division of the Command.

Omotola Odutola, the Command’s spokesperson, stated in a statement that the cause of the NYSC member’s death has not yet been determined.

Witnesses let out a loud cry and were intrigued to see a “keke” traveling a path not intended for tricycles. A dead body was found before the witnesses could thoroughly look into their suspicions.

In the statement, Odutola stated, “The culprits defeating the villagers, were a step ahead and disappeared without trace despite the concerned citizens’ efforts to catch up with the culprits.”

Odutola clarified that once investigators from the Ogijo Division were sent to the area, they found the young adult male’s body, who was thought to be about 24 years old.

The area was promptly blocked off when the body was discovered in a solitary bush, according to a police spokesperson.

The Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital Mortuary in Sagamu is now home to the body.

“No one has come forward to submit a complaint of a missing person, and no one has reported a missing person fitting the description.

“The police have initiated an ongoing investigation to identify the perpetrators of this horrific act in the interim.”
