Police vow to thoroughly investigate Mohbad’s death

The Nigeria Police have expressed readiness to thoroughly investigate the sudden death of popular singer, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, aka Mohbad.

TNN recalls that Mohbad died on Tuesday under controversial circumstances.

His death became trending topic on social media with many calling for a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.

Reacting, the Nigeria police assured the force would carry out a “diligent investigation” into the singer’s death.

This was contained in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday.

The statement partly read: “We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of late Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, who tragically passed away recently. We understand the concerns surrounding his untimely demise and the various speculations that have arisen.

“The Nigeria Police Force is committed to a comprehensive investigation into this matter, as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police has been tasked to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death. Rest assured, updates will be provided as investigations unfold.”

The police enjoined family members or close associates of the late singer “with valuable information to approach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to assist in this process.”

The force urged individuals to refrain from making statements or engaging in activities that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation.

DAILY POST reports that a letter from the late Mohbad informing the Nigeria Police of the threat to his life has surfaced.

The late singer, in a letter dated June 27, 2023, and addressed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, stated that he was attacked at a video shoot on June 25, 2023, by men who claimed that they worked for Oba Elegushi.
