During a recent show, Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the FCT, revealed plans to call FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for an explanation.

Senator Kingibe stressed the necessity for the Minister to present a detailed plan for addressing the security situation, voicing grave worry over the increasing number of kidnapping and bandit violence occurrences in the country’s capital.

She was elected under the Labour Party and emphasized that the head of the DSS, the police commissioner, and the minister of the FCT must work together to develop a winning plan.

Ahead of the summons, Senator Kingibe stressed the Minister’s position as the FCT’s main security officer and the significance of having a thorough plan in place to protect the locals. The Senator expressed confidence in the summons, but he was unsure about the Minister’s answer.

“I’m not hoping for anything. I’m sure he’ll be called in. But that’s a whole other story when it comes to his response or lack thereof. However, he ought to have a strategy since he is the FCT’s main security officer.

“He ought to be able to inform the committee, myself included, that this is the strategy for safeguarding the citizens of the Federal Capital Territory. The senator stated, “They need to have a plan between him, the police commissioner, and the head of the DSS.”

Senator Kingibe also bemoaned what she saw as a “disconnect” with the FCT Minister. She said that Wike disregarded her letters and communications about the local security situation.
