The nation’s security chiefs have been tasked by President Bola Tinubu with making ensuring that the different security dangers facing the nation are decisively defeated.

At the Friday Presidential Security Briefing at the State House in Abuja, Buhari assigned the assignment while speaking to the heads of intelligence and security agencies.

The president stated that although there has been good progress in eliminating certain security risks in various theaters, the ultimate resolution to the multifaceted danger would determine the degree of accomplishment.

“We currently need to invest far too much in social security, MSME development, physical and soft infrastructure, and other growth-enabling initiatives. In the next years, we intend to build a $1 trillion economy, and if we do not ultimately bring an end to the progressive assault on those who stand in the way of development, our efforts will be compromised. Take heart.

“Our people are becoming more and more confident in your abilities, and they are grateful for the sacrifices made by our men and women. There is no denying the success you are achieving. Nigerians see it, but mistakes that should have been prevented, like the ones that happened recently in Kaduna, are unacceptable and cannot be made again.

“Though I am happy that in recent months, coordination among all agencies has significantly improved, there is no cause for celebrations until we can put an end to this, return our troops to their hometowns, and free up funds for our vital economic expansion program,” Tinubu asserted.

In order to guarantee that the country attains a sustainable production of two million barrels of crude oil per day, including condensates, by the first quarter of 2024, he emphasized that the armed forces must fulfill his goal.

With my intelligence reports, I don’t play around. I can see in numerous directions. To the advantage of all Nigerians, the Navy and sister branches need to perform better in order to accomplish our goals. We shall ruthlessly remove all bad actors from our midst.

“Those who, both internally and externally, oppose the national agenda will face consequences.” It is obvious what you need to do. We’re going to keep going. Under my leadership, failure is not an option,” the president said.

In addition, he expressed gratitude to his Chief Personal Security Officer (CPSO), the Commander of the Brigade of Guards (BoG), and the Commander of the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF) for their hard work and devotion in carrying out their duties.

On Friday, the president also decorated his security aides in the State House and presented the commendation.

The individuals who have been decorated are Air Vice Marshal Olayinka Olusola Oyesola, the PAF Commander; Adebisi Olusegun Onasanya, the Commander of the BoG, who has been elevated from Colonel to Brigadier-General; and Usman Musa Shugaba, the Police CPSO, who has been promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police.

The policemen’ “loyalty and dedication to duty” pleased Tinubu, he said.

Nigeria demands everyone to serve. As you have seen, we are the nation’s servants, not its masters. The tasks and obligations you have taken on demonstrate your stewardship as leaders in your many categories.

The president remarked, “I hope that Nigeria will continue to recognize your service to motherland.”

In the presence of the spouses of the elevated officers, the President, aided by Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, and Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, decorated the newly promoted officers.

The heads of intelligence agencies, presidential advisers, Bello Matawalle, the minister of state for defense, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser, and the service chiefs were all present at the occasion.

AVM Olayinka spoke on behalf of the officers, thanking the president for the officers’ promotion and for giving them the opportunity to serve the country.

He gave the Chief of Staff assurances about their steadfast allegiance and dedication to duty.
