Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur, it has been widely reported in the British media.
Reports yet to be confirmed by the club claimed on Monday that the former Chelsea manager was fired in the morning.
Ryan Mason and Chris Powell are reportedly set to take over until June, when a substantive manager will be appointed.
Although Mourinho, who joined Spurs in November 2019 following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino, has led the club to the Carabao Cup final, the club have generally underperformed under his guidance.
For instance, Mourinho has lost more games in all competitions in 2020-21 than he has in any other season in his managerial career (13), and Tottenham are seventh in the Premier League, five points after the Champions League spots.
Before Mourinho’s arrival, Tottenham regularly qualified for the Champions League and reached the final in May 2019 under Pochettino.
However, they have even struggled in the less competitive Europa League under Mourinho, crashing out in the round of 16 to minnows Dinamo Zagreb.
There are rumours of a £30m payout clause in Mourinho’s contract should he get sacked.
Tottenham face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
