Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are set to face off in a highly anticipated debate on September 10 ahead of US presidential election.

The event will mark the first direct confrontation between the two candidates, given the Harris campaign’s indication that she would not participate in the proposed Fox News debate on September 4.

“ABC News will host qualifying presidential candidates to debate on September 10. Vice President Harris and former President Trump have both confirmed they will attend the debate,” the network announced in a statement.

The ABC debate on September 10 will be particularly significant as it was originally accepted by Trump and former President Joe Biden before Biden’s withdrawal from the race. Harris had also previously agreed to this date.

Earlier, Trump held a rare news conference at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, where he emphasized his eagerness to engage in multiple debates with Harris. “I think it’s very important to have debates,” Trump stated. He also addressed his health, stating he was “pretty much recovered” from a recent assassination attempt that resulted in a wound to his ear.

Trump expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming debates, stating, “I look forward to the debates because I think we have to set the record straight.” He also commented on the terms of the debates, noting that “minor details” were still being finalized, including audience and locations.
