National president, Association of Professional Women Engineers (APWEN), Engr. Dr. Adebisi Osim, has said the donation of farming input to women farmers in Cross River and other states was aimed at boosting food production and ensuring food security.
Engr. Osim made the remarks during the distribution of seeds and other farming inputs to farmers at the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) secretariat in Càlabar yesterday.
The APWEN president stressed that the donation was a way of contributing their quota in the fight against hunger.
Speaking on the theme; “cultivating change, empowering women, farmers and young engineers to grow a brighter future”, Osim stated that the seeds and other empowerment was also to create an environment where positive transformation can take place.
“We are poised to grow and nurture the future. With those inputs we can be sure of food security and sustainability of food production,” she said.
The programme manager, Cross River Agriculture Development Programme, Mr Bassey Emogor, lauded the group for the gesture.
