Yobe State Government has directed all primary and secondary schools in the state to shut down and academic activities from 31 July over the planned nationwide protest on hardship and hunger scheduled to commence on August 1, 2024.
The directive was contained in a statement by the state’s Commissioner of Basic and Secondary education, Associated Professor Abba Idriss and signed by Director, Schools Management, Bukar Modu in Damaturu.
“I am directed by the Honourable Commissioner, Associate Professor Abba Idriss Adam to write and notify you his approval for the closure of all Primary and Secondary Schools in the state.
“However, it is in the light of the above, schools in the state will be close on Wednesday 31st July, 2024 as against on Friday 2nd August, 2024,” Modu said.
The statement further directed schools to resume for academic activities on Sunday 15th September, 2024.
