Peter Obi, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress, has been criticized by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike for lacking the skills needed to manage and resolve Nigeria’s issues.
Wike stressed that good leadership involves bravery, determination, and dedication while discussing political events and leadership.
Being a leader requires courage, fortitude, commitment, and the capacity to stick with your choices. It’s not an easy path. What you’ve witnessed, such as certain governors resigning from office, demonstrates that they lacked the traits of a capable leader,” he remarked.
He likened the circumstances to Obi’s time amid internal Labour Party disputes, claiming that the former presidential candidate failed to provide strong leadership when it was most needed.
“I likened them to the past presidential candidate of the Labour Party, who received support from them.
“He needed to take charge and lead when the crisis hit the Labour Party, but he avoided taking responsibility because he couldn’t find solutions,” Wike added.
The minister also noted that certain governors failed to maintain their composure in the face of political difficulties.
When a crisis arose and our governors were expected to demonstrate leadership, bravery, and forward-thinkingness, they fled because they were searching for a platform. This is to let you know who is capable of standing in a crisis,” he continued.
Wike warned elected officials that their performance will have an impact on their political careers and asked them to remain accountable to the people.
“Let no one believe that simply because the president and his accomplishments have been discussed, none of you will be covered.
“Your report card will be returned by us if you accept our mandate during this time of operational show,” he said.
