Founder of the New Nigerian People‘s Party (NNPP), Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, has expressed his disappointment that the party deviated from its original vision of providing space and choice for ordinary Nigerians.
He denied the presence of a faction within the party and asserted that it was only undergoing an internal democracy process.
Aniebonam said he had been criticised for allowing former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to be the leader of the party.
He said the party’s certificate was in his possession and blamed Kwankwaso for changing the NNPP’s logo without proper authorisation.
The NNPP founder also blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for accepting the logo change without verifying the original certificate.
He urged the commission to exercise caution, as Nigeria’s democracy relies heavily on its actions.
Aniebonam emphasised the need to allow the younger generation to participate in politics, as he believes the older generation needs the younger ones to succeed.
