President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared the creation of a special support fund for Nigerian military personnel, those injured while doing their duties, and the families of dead heroes.
In honor of his 74th birthday, the President announced the effort on Sunday to honor the bravery, selflessness, and dedication of the country’s military forces.
Tinubu has instructed the Federation’s Accountant-General to create a separate account for the fund, which will offer targeted assistance to wounded service members as well as widows, widowers, and children of those who died while serving their country.
In order to ensure that those who have paid the price for Nigeria’s peace and security are not forgotten, the President has personally promised to donate all of his earnings since taking office as seed money for the project.
State governors, members of the National Assembly, the corporate sector, his friends, and well-wishers were urged to support the initiative by the President, who also mentioned that the fund’s specifics would be revealed eventually.
Regardless of the insurance programs available to members of the armed forces, Tinubu emphasized that the project is based on a grave national commitment to care for those who stand in danger and the families who bear the burden of their sacrifice.
Additionally, he said that helping military personnel and their families is a responsibility that everyone must fulfill rather than an act of charity.
According to a statement from presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the President reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing military personnel’s welfare and making sure that their contribution to the country is matched with respect, care, and ongoing support.
