Nigerian Students Plan Protest Against MTN, MultiChoice Over Xenophobic Attacks

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has vowed to picket South African companies in Nigeria over the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

There were recently killings of some Nigerians in South Africa over the violent attacks.

The association is mobilising to take decisive and lawful action by organising peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said in a statement to newsmen.

“We categorically state that the ongoing persecution of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must end immediately.

“This will include big corporations like MTN Group and MultiChoice Group. Businesses thrive in an atmosphere where the lives of Nigerians are protected, while elsewhere Nigerians live in fear and face violence – a morally indefensible situation.

It said, “This contradiction will not be tolerated any longer.”
