When they play debutants Cameroon in their second match of the NCF T20i tournament in Lagos on Tuesday, Nigeria’s senior women’s cricket team, the Female Yellow Greens, will look to make it two victories in a row.

Against Sierra Leone, the Female Yellow Greens defeated them by six wickets in the tournament’s opening match on Monday.

The toss was won by Seirra Leone, who elected to bat first. However, they were only able to score 65 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 19 overs, which meant that Nigeria had to win the match by scoring the absolute minimum.

Nigeria initially struggled to score runs in the second innings but still managed to do so, scoring 67 runs in 14 overs while losing three wickets.

The turnaround impressed Leke Oyede, the coach of Nigeria, who expressed his belief that his team will advance with each victory throughout the competition.

We were a little shaken, but we were hoping that our batters would bat out the runs in the batting overs. Thank goodness, others stepped in and did a fantastic job to finish the game,” Oyede said.

We will undoubtedly fix the majority of these issues as we move forward, he continued, adding that improving our bowling is another curve.

Due to her 22 runs off of 24 balls and two wickets taken, Nigerian Lucky Piety was named player of the match.
