The opposition parties’ claim that the government spent N5 billion to reserve every hotel in Imo State in preparation for the state’s upcoming governorship election has been refuted by Governor Hope Uzodinman’s administration as an utter lie.
Declan Emelumba, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, reportedly stated that the government was not aware of any such agreement while he was interacting with journalists in Owerri.
He stressed that social media has never been used by the government to communicate with stakeholders.
“There are no such hotel bookings that the government is aware of,” he stated. The administration has not and will not communicate with stakeholders on social media.

Emelumba stated that Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the election in a free and fair race, despite rumors that thugs from neighboring states are being sent in to manipulate the results.
In addition, he stated that the government was aware of the opposition’s plans to inundate the state with goons in advance of the polls, emphasizing that the issue was being discussed with the appropriate security agencies in order to take the appropriate measures.
As a result, he urged the people of Imo to set aside the theatrics of the opposition and concentrate on giving the governor a second term, which he deserved, so that he could carry on with his excellent work.
“The opposition is aware that they have already lost the election,” he declared. For this reason, they are making up all kinds of lies—like the marketing for this hotel—to divert the attention of the authorities.
