Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has suggested President Bola Tinubu to cease occurring official overseas journeys along with his kids.

The President has been occurring official worldwide journeys with members of his household, particularly his son, Seyi Tinubu.

Though Omokri identified that there was nothing legally fallacious with the President going abroad with any member of his household, he famous that it shouldn’t be taking place when the nation is bitterly divided on account of the result of the 2023 presidential election and the removing of gas subsidy.

“If I have been President of Nigeria presently when the nation is bitterly divided on account of the #NigerianElections2023 and the removing of gas subsidy, in addition to the flotation of the Naira, I might not take my kids on an official enterprise journey abroad,” he opined in a submit he shared on X on Wednesday.

“The one purpose I might not do that’s as a result of the optics would look dangerous, and I might be enjoying into the palms of my political opponents and hostile media, which have taken a enterprise determination to oppose my administration to appease their base in preparation for the subsequent election.

“Having stated that, legally, there may be nothing fallacious with it. Please fact-check me: As Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher took her son, Mark Thatcher, to abroad UK Enterprise summits. Sir Mark Thatcher is a businessman, as is Seyi Tinubu. Additionally, fact-check me: President Obasanjo equally took his son, Gbenga, on a enterprise summit whereas he was President. Gbenga can also be a official businessman.

“The present U.S. President, Joe Biden, took his son, Hunter Biden, on a enterprise summit in China whereas he was vice President. And President Trump even made his daughter and her husband his advisers, who continuously travelled with him to enterprise and political summits…

“Aside from the truth that Nigeria is at the moment very divided, and the President ought to have averted fireplace, being that he’s coated in petrol, what he did isn’t fallacious in any respect.”
