The chairmanship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Isuikwuato LGA in the November 2 election, Emenike Azubuike, has cried out that the Certified True Copies (CTC) of his result sheets have not been released to him by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission.
According to him, the Abia State electoral umpire is yet to respond to his request, despite written and acknowledged applications he made on November 3 and November 4, 2024.
Addressing journalists on Thursday in Umuahia, the ADC candidate said every effort he made to lay hands on his election results were allegedly frustrated by the ABSIEC officials.
According to him, the results announced in Isuikwuato by ABSIEC did not reflect the true account of the votes that were cast, claiming that there were incidents of late arrival of materials, voter apathy and over-voting in some polling units.
He indicated that the he is considering heading to court to challenge the outcome of the poll, noting he was sure that the people of Isuikwuato gave him and his party large votes.
Azubuike further alleged that the party declared to have come second in Isuikwuato LGA did not even have a candidate.
Also, the State Chairman of African Democratic Congress, Deacon Iyke, who spoke on the Isuikwuato chairmanship election matter, said, “Up till now, the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) refused to give us our election results despite our application for the results since 3/11/2024 through our candidates.”
But when contacted by DAILY POST for on Friday, the Chairman of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, Professor George Chima described the allegations as ‘funny’, while advising Emenike Azubuike and his party to source the CTC of the results from the Electoral Officer (EO) in charge of Isuikwuato, and not in the media.
