Under the Nigerian Police Force’s Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme package, the IGP distributed checks to 785 beneficiaries at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Cheques totaling N2.08 billion were given to the families of police officers who passed away while on duty during the previous five years by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
He distributed the checks to 785 recipients at the Force Headquarters in Abuja who were part of the Nigerian Police Force’s Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme package.

This was revealed in a statement released on Thursday by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force spokesman.
“From June 2023 to the present, the Nigeria Police Force, via the Force Insurance Office, has been able to settle a total of 2,533 insurance claims of police personnel who have passed away. These claims total Six Billion, Thirteen Million, Forty-Three Thousand, Three Hundred and Twenty-Six Naira, Fifty-One Kobo (N6,013,043,326.51k).”
The Inspector General of Police praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for prioritizing police welfare and for making sure that the Nigeria Police Force’s premium was wisely released in memory of its fallen officers. He also underlined how his administration is committed to continuing its efforts to guarantee that insurance payouts and other welfare benefits are given to recipients on time.
