The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, or NSCDC, paraded three suspects, including a suspected rapist, on Monday in connection with alleged crimes in Benue State.

Yakubu Ibrahim, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, promised that there would be no hiding spot for criminals while he was in charge when he paraded the four suspects at the command’s headquarters in Makurdi.

Speaking through Michael Ejelikwu, the public relations officer for the NSCDC, he clarified that Gbanger Terkimbi, the rape suspect, is accused of having sexual relations with an 11-year-old girl at the Mbakumur Peivi community in the Guma Local Government Area of the State on Sunday, April 25.
According to him, the suspect was arrested on January 25, after a medical examination/finding revealed that his victim had physical injuries among others on her private part.

Sunday admitted the crime during a chat with journalists, saying he was teaching the minor sex on her request.

The NSCDC explained, “the second suspect, a 27-year-old Abdullahi Ali, popularly known as “Rayyamu and two pack” was arrested on February 5 at about 11:49am at Ankpa Quarters in Makurdi over alleged criminal conspiracy, theft, armed robbery and cheating.”

He further explained that Ali escaped twice from NSCDC custody and once from the police custody even in handcuffs before he was apprehended by the civil defence officers.

According to the suspect, he ran away because of suffering in detention, begging the law to temper justice with mercy.

The other two suspects – Aliyu Ali, 32, and Mustapha Aliyu, 27 – who are both drivers were nabbed at Ugbokpo in Apa LGA on February 4 over alleged vandalism, theft and willful destruction of critical national assets and criminal conspiracy.

According to the NSCDC PRO, they were also in possession of a stolen MF375 tractor suspected to belong to either the Benue or Nasarawa State government.
