Bola Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, said that Nigeria is a “very very poor” country because of its low per capita income in comparison to other African countries.

To be honest, Nigeria is an extremely poor nation. During his Monday Prime Time appearance on Arise TV as a Special Guest, Onanuga stated, “I believe that people overestimate our wealth.”

The seasoned journalist responded, “I think we have a poor estimation of the wealth of the country, we are a very poor country,” to a question about the status of Nigeria’s economy and the administration’s efforts to maintain stability.

The administration “is hoping that the pressure on our finances will reduce,” he continued, with the elimination of gasoline subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate.

Claims that the Tinubu-led government still owes federal employees emoluments were also denied by the presidential assistant.

According to the AuGF office, there is a problem with the platform that is being used to distribute the salaries.

“Yes, salaries were delayed, but all federal workers have been paid, according to a briefing I received this morning,” Onanuga said.
