Staff members at the University of Ibadan in Oyo State are required to work three days each week.

A special release with the number 4642, dated August 14, 2023, and signed by G.O. Saliu, Registrar and Secretary to Council, made this information public.

In response to the recent withdrawal of Premium Motor Spirit subsidies, it was announced that the decision was made.

According to the statement, the majority of Nigerians now face severe economic hardships as a result of the petrol pump price’s stratospheric rise following the Federal Government’s elimination of subsidies.

Due to the accompanying increase in transportation costs and living expenses, the condition of wage earners who commute to work every day is expected to worsen.

“After giving the matter due thought, University Management advised a temporary change to the work schedule for staff members, which Senate at its meeting on Thursday, August 3, 2023, took under consideration and approved.

As a result, starting on Monday, August 14, 2073, employees are required to work on-site for three (3) days in a row.

However, it should be noted that this adjustment does not apply to people doing critical duties.

“Management will examine the arrangement as the situation improves, it should be emphasised further. Staff members must continue to be dedicated, honest with one another, and work together to provide a free flow of work, even when and where appropriate, working from home.

In light of the aforementioned, management requests all deans, directors, heads of departments, and heads of units’ understanding in order to conduct the intervention smoothly.
