Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State, has authorized the payment of N10 million as a relief package for soldiers hurt during Borno-related battles.

The package was a realization of a promise made by Governor Zulum during a Sallah launch hosted by Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff.

Major General Peter Malla, GOC of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army, received the governor’s gift on Saturday at the 7th Divisional Headquarters in Maiduguri from State Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, with assistance from Permanent Secretary, Mustapha Busuguma.

We are here to fulfill the promise given by His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Tar stated.

“You may remember that the governor attended an event here on a Sallah day, where he expressed the dedication of the Borno State government to the welfare of our troops and promised a N10 million donation to injured soldiers. He sent us out early this morning to give the present.

As well as ensuring calm in the state, he praised the military for defending Nigeria’s geographical integrity.

The GOC 7 Division’s Malla thanked Governor Zulum for the gift and accepted it on his behalf.

He stated, “Let me on behalf of the Theater Commander welcome you to 7 Division and want also to convey our gratitude to His Excellency for always supporting the military.”
