Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has ordered broadcast companies to use their extensive national reach to communicate the truth about the real state of affairs in the nation.
According to him, the broadcasting organizations ought to reorient the populace toward harmony, peace, and progress.
The Minister made the comments on Wednesday, the second day of his familiarization visit to ministry-affiliated entities.
The minister spoke at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and called Radio Nigeria the best broadcast media company in the country, a household name that is well-known and respected.
He said that Radio Nigeria has done a great deal to educate and inform Nigerians, foster collaboration among the nation’s diverse population, and advance democracy and the country’s progress.
The minister tasked Radio Nigeria with using the station as a true platform to spread the successes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to listeners throughout Nigeria and beyond.

In order for media companies like FRCN to compete in a congested market, he revealed that technology has always been a game-changer and has become much more so in the twenty-first century.
The Minister recognized the work done by Voice of Nigeria (VON) in reaching out to audiences around the world and offering a forum for international discussion in eight languages that are essential to Nigeria’s reputation and diplomatic endeavors.
Using the deployment of a huge Rotatable Transmitter, he pointed out that VON has made tremendous advances to increase its reach.
To make sure Nigeria’s voice is heard and understood around the world, he urged them to employ cutting-edge technology to expand VON’s footprint, particularly online.
“VON will also function as our actual platform to spread to a worldwide audience the principles of our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the accomplishments being documented under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he declared.
The minister noted at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that NAN is the country’s news distributor and a global distribution channel for positive news from Nigeria, and that it has made incalculable contributions to the visibility and reputation of our country abroad.
As “our bridge with the rest of the world, and bringing to global audiences our rich cultural diversity and our dynamic economy,” he said, NAN has played a key role in reflecting our national identity and ideals on the international arena.
The Minister was welcomed into their various organizations and given a tour of their facilities by the Director General of FRCN, Dr. Mansur Liman; the Director General of VON, Osita Okechukwu; and the Acting Managing Director of NAN, Mr. Abduhadi Khalil.
