The Department of State Services (DSS), on Tuesday, advised Muslims across the country to be security conscious at all the prayer grounds during the Eid el-Fitr billed for today.

The secret police also advised that Muslims should report any suspicious movement to security agents when noticed, noting that it was working closely with the Nigeria Police Force and other sister agencies to ensure a hitch-free Sallah celebration.

In its Sallah celebration message, the spokesman of the secret police, Peter Afunanya, urged Nigerians to live together in a peaceful manner that would always resonate peaceful coexistence.

“Everyone is advised to be security conscious, as well as report suspicious activities to security and law enforcement organisations.

“On its part, the service will sustain collaboration with sister security agencies, and indeed other stakeholders, to ensure hitch-free celebrations,” Afunanya said, stressing that everyone should celebrate responsibly.

He added that, “DSS wishes to celebrate the Eid el-Fitr festival with the Muslim ummah. It heartily congratulates them on the peaceful completion of the Ramadan, which is a period of fasting, prayer and reflection for the Muslim faithful worldwide.”

He stated further that, “Meanwhile, the website: www.dss.gov.ng; Email address: [email protected] and telephone lines: +234915 339 1309 and +234 908 8373514 remain available to the members of the public who may wish to contact the service during and after the holidays.”

Daily Trust reports that Muslims worldwide will today observe the obligatory two-rakat prayers to signal the end of the 30-day Ramadan fast.
