Nigerian military ranked 35th best in the world

The Armed Forces of Nigeria is the 35th strongest in the world in 2021 according to GlobalFirePower.

The Nigerian military moved seven places to 42 in GFP’s new year rating.

GFP said its ranking is based on each nation’s potential war-making capabilty across land, sea and air fought by conventional means.

It said the result incoporates values related to manpower, equipment, natural resources, finances and geography.

“The finalized Global Firepower ranking below utilizes over 50 individual factors to determine a given nation’s PowerIndex (‘PwrIndx’) score with categories ranging from military might and financials to logistical capability and geography,” a statement on its website reads.

“Our unique, in-house formula allows for smaller, more technologically-advanced, nations to compete with larger, lesser-developed ones and special modifiers, in the form of bonuses and penalties, are applied to further refine the annual list. Color arrows indicate year-over-year trend comparison “.

The United States has the strongest military in the world, a position it has held for some time.

Russia, China, India and Japan comes behind, followed by South Korea, France, United Kingdom, Brazil and Pakistan.

In 13th position, the Egyptian military is rated as the best in Africa.

Algeria (27), South Africa (32) and Nigeria (37) are the other African nations in the top 50.
