On Thursday, the Presidency stated that President Bola Tinubu has not authorised a public servant wage rise.
On Thursday, Dele Alake, the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communication, and Strategy, stated, “We state, without any equivocation, that President Bola Tinubu has not approved any salary increase, and no such proposal has been brought before him for consideration.
The statement said, ‘No presidential sanction for wage rise for political office holders and judicial officers.’
After the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission authorised a 114% salary rise for the President, Vice President, elected federal and state political office holders, and judicial officers, Thursday’s statement was released.

“While we understand that it is within the RMAFC’s constitutional authority to propose and establish salaries and allowances of political office holders and judicial officers, such cannot come into force unless it has equally been evaluated and authorised by the President,” Alake said.
The Presidency claimed that the story was “contrived to create ill-will for the new administration, slow down the upward momentum and massive goodwill the Tinubu-led administration is currently enjoying among Nigerians as a result of its fast-paced, dynamic and progressive policies.” RMAFC had debunked the story.
