Because it connects the North and East, Works Minister Dave Umahi plans to reconstruct the Lokoja-Ajaokuta Express road.
Umar promised during his first working visit to Kogi State.
He responded to Governor Bello, who called the route the main North-South connector.
The minister praised the governor’s warm welcome and dedication to Kogi State’s improvement.
Umahi acknowledged federal roads and the government’s large turnaround efforts.
He announced long-lasting, low-maintenance concrete roads and promised fast development on all federal road projects in Kogi State.
He said the federal government was investigating low-maintenance concrete road building that can last over 50 years.
He also said concrete roads are cheaper and guarantee construction materials.
The minister pledged to redesign Lokoja-Ganaja-Ajaokuta Road and praised the governor’s road maintenance.
Onogwu Mohammed, the state governor’s Chief Press Secretary, stated Wednesday that Umahi had previously inspected the Gada-biu bridge reconstruction, the Abaji section of Abuja-Lokoja Road, Koto-Karfe Bridge, and Murtala Muhammed Bridge.
He stated, “The minister highlighted the desire of the Federal Government to turn the strategically vital route into a suitable form hence, the necessity to redesign it to fit the contemporary reality.”
The Federal Government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure encouraged Governor Yahaya Bello.
He praised the minister’s proactive inspection of state federal roadways, which showed a commitment to fixing infrastructure difficulties.
He recognised commuting sufferings, trade and economic losses, and transportation system strain.
The governor praised President Bola Tinubu and the ministry for acknowledging the issues and promising quick solutions.
Since Kogi is the gateway to Northern and Southern Nigeria, the state of our federal roadways has worried our administration, the people of Kogi State, and Nigerians in general.
Commuter hardship, trade and economic losses, and transportation system strain have been reported.
The governor stated, “It is with this in mind that we extend our sincere appreciation to the Honourable Minister for not only noting this distress but also for promising quick assistance to ameliorate the situation.”
He stressed that good governance requires federal-state collaboration on infrastructure challenges.
Bello thought that the minister’s urgent initiatives would change the lives of citizens who traverse these routes and that the president’s “Renewed Hope” plan might revolutionise the nation’s economy and well-being.
