Adding colours to pursuit of qualitative education in Ogun: Travelwings examples

Travelwings, an online and technology driven travels and tour company recently demonstrated that it is as committed to granting people the wings to see the world just as it is committed to giving Nigerian children wings to access qualitative education.

It is an enterprise driven by the vision to take customers on a journey without bounds. Since its inception nine years ago, the company has catered for over one million travelers and gained a strong foothold in 32 nations spanning across the Middle East, African subcontinent, and many more.

Although, the travel and tours company started its operations in Lagos, Nigeria about five years ago but it has always believed in supporting the country, particularly in the area of educational development for a more rewarding and exciting future.

It was in pursuance of this lofty ideal of the company that its representative in the country, Mr Bhavesh Punjabi and others recently stormed Abeokuta, Ogun State capital to support two schools with educational materials.

The Company during the visit donated 50 chairs and 300 exercise books to the 100 years-old Baptist Primary School, Idia-Aba while another set of 50 chairs and textbooks were equally given to the 80-year-old Lisabi Grammar School (Junior School) also at Idia-Aba, Abeokuta.

The representatives of the company, supported by the staff and students of the two schools also engaged in symbolic planting of trees and coconut within the school compounds.

The trees planted are to serve as memorials of the epoch making occasion while also helping with the fight against climate change.

Receiving the visitors amidst the cheerful pupils, the HeadTeacher of Baptist Primary School 1, Idia-Aba, Mrs Christianah Olayiwola could not hide her excitement given the vital role the donations will play in the determined bid to create a coducive learning environment for the pupils.

Mrs Olayiwola while receiving the donations said “this hand of love and fellowship from Travelwings is really appreciated and quite commendable because it will go a long way in making the children more comfortable while learning.

“It will help to decongest sitting arrangements of four or three pupils on a seat and make learning more interesting.

“We sincerely thank Travelwings and we hope that other coporate organisations and well-to-do individuals will support initiative like this that are geared towards supporting the Ogun State government to improve access to qualitative learning”.

The Chairman of School Based Management Committee of the primary school, Rev Akinfolabi Osinubi also lauded Travelwings for their thoughtfulness and interest in helping to build a greater Nigeria with investment in the educational sector.

Rev Osinubi said “we are certainly grateful for this interventions, it is always good to give back to the society that is how to make the world a better place.

“This investment particularly in education is really comforting because we are talking about building a better Nigeria. It is what other public spirited individuals and organizations should do to make a difference in the future of our country. We appreciate Travelwings and pray that the Almighty God will continually uplift  the organization”

Akinrolabu Victoria and Akanni Joseph, the Headgirl and Headboy of the school respectively also thanked the travel and tours company saying that their kind gesture would undoubtedly made learning more conducive for the entire pupils.

Similarly, at Lisabi Grammar School which is just a stone throw to the first port of call, the Principal of the Junior Section of the school, Mrs Olufunmilayo Joseph said that the school management is quite happy to receive the donations from Travelwings.

Mrs Joseph described the  humanitarian gesture as a practical way to also teach the children the art of giving and supporting a good cause to thrive.

She said “the school is certainly grateful for this donation because it will certainly support other interventions of the government towards giving our children qualitative education.

“However, efforts like this go beyond giving, it helps to teach the younger ones the art of giving, the act of trying to look for others and reaching out to help.

“We all know the difficulties with our economy yet a group is trying to reach out, to care for others, this is an impression that the children won’t forget in a while. We are grateful for this donation and we hope that others will emulate Travelwings as we all strive to build better future for the nation”.

Olasanmi Moses and Terwase Joy, the Head boy and Headgirl of the school respectively, conveyed their appreciation to Travelwings disclosing that the donations from the company would undoubtedly assist the students to get better in their studies.

Speaking during the presentation of these educational materials, Travelwings country’s head, Bhavesh Punjabi said that the company could not afford to do less.

He said there was no better way the travel and tours company could appreciate the massive love and support of Nigerians since it began operations in Nigeria about five years ago than investing in efforts such as education that is tied to giving the country a brighter and rewarding future.

Punjabi said “Travelwings is a global online travel and tours company that is in 30 countries of the world and about 20 in Africa. The company actually started operations in Nigeria about five years ago but this month of March is the 9th anniversary of the company.

“The outing has been quite successful, you can see the excitement among the students. It is an excitement that worths the investment..during the visit we donated furniture, books, we planted trees and had fruitful interactions with the teachers.

“We have gotten so much love and support from Africa and Nigeria, and as we celebrate our 9th anniversary we felt that we should support the country’s educational development and the feedback has been quite encouraging and inspiring.

“This is who we are as a brand, as much as we are interested in encouraging and inspiring people to see other part of the world for leisure, tourism and business, we are also much more interested in evolving and inspiring a better world that we can all be proud of and leave for coming generations”.
