The Super Eagles of Nigeria were welcomed by President Bola Tinubu in the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja.

The celebration comes after their performance in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final in Côte d’Ivoire in 2024.

With the exception of Alex Iwobi, who had been the target of cyberattacks after Nigeria’s defeat to Cote D’Ivoire in the African Cup of Nations final, all of the team members and officials were present.

Recall that President Tinubu praised the squad, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their performance at the competition in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

The President also advised Nigerians to be optimistic, stressing that our tenacity, discipline, and will on the field of play allowed us to win a significant victory in the eyes of both Africa and the rest of the world.

“Let this fleeting incident inspire us to work even harder, rather than depressing us. The green-white-green banner unites us as a nation, symbolizing our resilience, joy, hope, duty, and unwavering love.

“To those beloved Nigerian youths who are playing football in their modest rectangles of play, putting lines in the sand, and expressing their gifts in their communities—you can be our heroes tomorrow; never give up on your dreams. The President had declared, “My administration is here to make dreams come true.”
