The young man who broke into the home of a retired nurse named Mrs. Esther Amali and her housemaid, Mercy Mwuese, in Makurdi, Benue State capital, killed them both with stabbings.
According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 4:30 p.m.
The suspected murderer attacked the housemaid, who was in her 20s, when the retired nurse was away, according to an eyewitness.
The suspected murderer entered the house for two different reasons.
According to one version, the housemaid became pregnant after one of the rival cult members allegedly killed one of their members.
Another account stated that the housemaid of the deceased had a falling out with the suspected murderer because of his friend, whom Mercy had accused of being the father of her unborn child and the reason behind her pregnancy.
The deceased housemaid had received repeated warnings from the alleged murderer to cease identifying his friend as the biological father of her child.
The retired nurse was not present when the attacker allegedly scaled a fence to enter the house.
The retired nurse reportedly returned home to a loud commotion from the housemaid just as the attacker was stabbling her, according to the eyewitness.
The retired nurse hurried in after hearing the housemaid’s cries, and when she did, she discovered that a young man had stabbed Mercy, the housemaid.
“Mama began pleading with the suspected murderer to stop and calling his name, but he would not listen. Mercy was stabbed repeatedly until she lost consciousness, and he then turned to face Mama and continued stabbing her.
Mama, a retired nurse, needed help, but the alleged murderer had already fled.
However, Mama and the housemaid were driven to the hospital by neighbours who promptly made transportation arrangements. Mama, though, was barely able to breathe, recount the incident’s unfolding while they were travelling to the hospital.
Sadly, she lost the ghost before arriving at the hospital, so she was unable to survive.

The baby the housemaid left behind was given to a neighbour, and their remains were placed at the Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi.
SP Catherine Anene, the state command spokesperson, promised to respond to our correspondent as soon as she was contacted.
“I will get back to you on this,” was her curt response. When this report was submitted, she still hadn’t returned.
