The Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring improved peace and security in the state.

The Board Chairman of the Delta Security Trust Fund, Mr Daniel Mayuku, stated this when he led members of the board and other top management of the agency to Lagos to study the modus operandi of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.

Mayuku, in a statement made available on Thursday in Asaba, recalled that the state government to effectively combat crime, inaugurated the board.

He reassured all that the Delta State Government was committed to ensuring that the security situation in the state was given all the needed attention to improve.

“The state government is putting all its security machinery appropriately in place and the Delta State Security Trust Fund is also being positioned to become fully operational in the state.

“This informed the decision to go on the working visit to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund to understudy the Modus Operandi of the agency.

“The working visit saw an elaborate indoor session of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and the team, led by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr Abdurrazaq Balogun, did an expose of the operations of the board and successes recorded since its operations,” he said.

Mayuka also noted that the Executive Secretary of the Lagos trust fund also expressed his desire to see that the Delta State Trusts Fund excels.

According to him, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund attributed its success to the law establishing it.

He said that the visit also afforded the Lagos Trust Fund to take the Delta team on an on-the-spot tour of some very successful security outfits with major material funding from the board as well as a visit to corporate organisations relevant to the operations of the board.

Mayuku, who expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the visit, assured that the State Government was poised to ensure maximum security for its citizens with the application of the workable ideas received from its Lagos counterpart.

He also assured that the wealth of knowledge gained from the visit would not be swept under the rug but would productively be utilised to improve the security agenda of the Governor Sheriff Oborewori-led administration in the state.

On his part, the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Security Trust Fund, Mr Sam Osasa, re-emphasised the commitment of the board and the management to the vital goal of establishing the board.

Osasa said, “The visit was worth the while, and the experience garnered will be totally interpreted to ensure that it falls in line with the goal of the State Governor for the agency.”

He also harped on the need to strengthen the synergy between Sister Trust Fund Agencies in the country for such cross-fertilisation of ideas.

The visit ended with the presentation of certificates, plaques, and souvenirs to the Delta team and vice versa.
