DSS arrests Doyin Okupe at Lagos Airport

The former Director General of the Peter Obi/Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Doyin Okupe, has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security Services (DSS) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Okupe was billed to fly to London via Virgin Atlantic before he was arrested by the secret police.

A statement issued on Thursday by DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, confirmed that Okupe was intercepted at the instance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Afunanya added that the Labour Party chieftain has been handed over to the anti-graft agency.

According to him, “Doyin Okupe was intercepted by the DSS at Terminal 1 of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos this (Thursday) morning at the instance of the EFCC.”

“He has long been handed over to the Commission which requested for the action. “Okupe was billed to fly to London via Virgin Atlantic”.

Okupe also confirmed in a tweet that he was arrested at the Lagos airport on Thursday although he said he has been released, adding that the EFCC “apologised” to him for “the error”.
