The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has nabbed controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, over currency mutilation and abuse of naira notes.

The crossdresser was arrested in Lagos on Wednesday night. He has since been detained at the Lagos Command of the EFCC.

Dele Oyewale, the anti-graft agency’s spokesperson, who confirmed the controversial cross-dresser’s arrest and detention on Thursday morning, affirmed that he would be charged to court.

“Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command.

“We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of Naira notes, and currency mutilation, among others.

“We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the Naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, he will definitely be charged to court soon,” Oyewale said.

Bobrisky has been in the news for various controversial reasons including winning the “Best Dressed Female” Award at a movie premiere on March 25, 2024.

Muyiwa Adejobi, Force Spokesman, amid the controversy said there is no provision in the law suggesting that crossdressers in Nigeria should be arrested.
