Bashir, one of the sons of the immediate-past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused Governor Uba Sani of incompetence and poor performance.

He was reacting to comments made earlier by Governor Sani regarding the past administration.

Addressing a town hall meeting in Kaduna on Saturday, the governor had said he inherited a huge debt burden of $587m, N85bn and 115 contractual liabilities from the El-Rufai administration.

He said the huge debt burden was eating deep into the state’s federal allocation.

I inherited $587m, N85bn debts, 115 contract liabilities from El-rufai – Gov Sani

El-Rufai’s fresh meeting with SDP chieftains, others heightens 2027 speculations

The governor explained that N7bn out of the N10bn federal allocation for the state in March was deducted to service the state’s debt.

He further lamented that the state was left with N3bn, an amount he said was not enough to pay salaries, as the state’s monthly salary bill stands at N5.2 billion.

“Despite the huge debt burden of 587 million Dollars, 85 billion Naira, and 115 Contractual Liabilities sadly inherited from the previous administration, we remain resolute in steering Kaduna State towards progress and sustainable development. We have conducted a thorough assessment of our situation and are sharpening our focus accordingly” Gov Sani had said.

But in a series of posts via X, the young El-Rufai accused Governor Sani of surrounding himself with “incompetent aides appointed for political patronage.”

Bashir said instead of admitting its incompetence, the current administration resorted to deflecting by raising alarm on a debt burden inherited from the El-Rufai administration.

The former governor’s son further questioned Sani’s wisdom in “building a banquet hall for N7 billion” while, in the same breath “lamenting about debt left by the previous administration.”

He wrote: “These guys have realised that they are wholly incompetent and the only way to mask the nonsense is to deflect. From a Governor that is always sleeping in Abuja to a litany of incompetent aides that were only rewarded for foolish political reasons.

“FYI: He was the Senator from Kaduna who lobbied & approved the loans.

“One would think that from all the FAAC allocations these unserious clowns have changed to dollars, debt would be the least of their problems

“The current administration in Kaduna is building a banquet hall for 7BN naira and is lamenting about debt left by the previous administration.”

Bashir’s tweets have elicited different reactions. While supporters of the governors are hitting back at him, El-Rufai’s supporters have descended on the governor.
