EPL: Why I made Maguire Man Utd captain as an alternative of Bruno Fernandes – Solskjaer

Former Manchester United supervisor, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has revealed he made Harry Maguire captain as he felt Bruno Fernandes was “too passionate” to put on the armband.

Fernandes was appointed skipper by present supervisor Erik ten Hag in the summertime of 2023 after the Dutchman took it off Maguire.

However the 29-year-old has confronted criticism over his animated behaviour from a number of followers and pundits.

“I knew Bruno Fernandes had captain qualities once I was supervisor at Manchester United. He’s bought the persona and high quality, however he is aware of and I’ve advised him that he’s too passionate at occasions and he loses a little bit of management.

“I liked Harry Maguire as a captain, he was the chief in that group for me once I was on the membership,” Solskjaer stated on the Stick To Soccer podcast.
