Three members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Imo State who were on their way to Abuja for the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly on Tuesday were killed in an auto accident on Monday.

Along with those confirmed dead, others with varying degrees of injuries were reportedly rushed to hospitals.

According to The Punch, the bus they were riding in collided with another bus in Agbor, Delta State.

While multiple sources confirmed three people were killed, Cajetan Duke, the state APC spokesperson, who also confirmed the incident, described it as sad.

He did, however, claim that the state party had only confirmed two deaths, not three.
According to sources, the three victims include two males from the Amaraku community in the state’s Isiala Mbano Local Government Area and a female from the Ogbor community in the same LGA.

A party source, who requested anonymity, identified the three deceased as the coordinators for Senator-elect Patrick Ndubueze of Imo North and House of Representatives member-elect Miriam Onuoha of Okigwe North Federal Constituency.

“Three people died, and others who were injured were rushed to hospitals,” according to the source. Their bus collided with another bus, killing three people: two men and one woman. Two men from the Amaraku community and one woman from the Ogbor community all live in the Isiala Mbano LGA.

“They were taking two buses.” It’s a sad turn of events. The development saddens the party. It’s a heartbreaking commentary, and we hope God accepts their souls.”
