Dino Melaye, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has denied rumors that he received N3 billion for the Kogi polls from Atiku Abubakar and Aliko Dangote, the party’s presidential contenders.

Melaye said this over a luncheon in Abuja that members of his campaign organization hosted in his honor.

He explained that his opponents were the ones making the charges in an attempt to sabotage his campaign.

Melaye claims that the rumors that he received “N2 billion from Dangote and N1 billion from Atiku were false information spread by traitors.”

One of the lessons learned is that the East cannot become governor on their own; they now realize this more than before. To become governor, you’ll need to work with other zones.

“We Westerners are likewise in need of the second lesson. The next time, we ought to pay attention to the counsel of our elders rather than that of marketed figures who caused us troubles due to their own self-serving and individualistic goals.

“Because ultimately what happened was what our elders had predicted would happen—that this would be the worst election for us.”
