GOVERNOR Hope Uzodinma has dissolved the State Executive Council.

The governor also sacked 20 out of his 28 commissioners.

The development was announced today shortly after the council meeting in Owerri, the state capital.

According to our sources, the governor directed the affected council members to pick a bag each which contained their sack letter each at the door on their way out after the meeting.

The sacking of the 20 commissioners came just one month after the governor reshuffled his cabinet and appointed new Commissioners for Finance and Health.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy Declan Emelumba told journalists that the reason for the dissolution is to rejig the activities of the state government after one year in office.

He added that out of the 28 commissioners only eight commissioners were left to carry on with their activities.

The commissioners are Health, Information, Tourism, Women Affairs, Works, Finance, Youths and the Ministry of Technology.

Recall that the governor had in March last year assigned portfolios to his commissioners.
