On Monday, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Mr. Julius Abure, stated that he had information that the All Progressives Congress was already preparing for a possible re-run of the 2023 presidential election. He urged members of the party to be on the lookout for any potential developments regarding this matter.

In Abuja, Abure made these remarks during a meeting that was held online with the Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy. This meeting was led by Professor Eddie Oparaoji, who is the Chairman of the Labour Party Diaspora in the United States.

He explained that the ruling party was well aware that the current legal challenge to the results of the presidential election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission was heavily weighted against them.

In a statement, the party’s Acting National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, quoted Abure as calling on the party’s over 10 million members to be “on the alert and get ready to further humiliate APC and its government in the polls if their sinister plot fails to materialize.”

He said, “There are rumors going around that those in government are already planning for a rerun, and this is one of the support we will be canvassing from you in order to get it.

We should also get ready so that we are not caught off guard because everyone in the government is already getting ready for the rerun, and we should not let that happen.

“Therefore, we will be needing your engagement and support on this aspect if by some remote chance it happens today, that the election is nullified, which is not what we are asking for because what we are asking for is an unequivocal declaration of Peter Obi as the President of Nigeria. “So, we will be needing your engagement and support on this aspect if by some remote chance it happens today, that the election is nullified.”

“Given the statistics that we have and the result that we have, we have every reason to believe that we were successful in winning that election. As a result, we are not anticipating anything other than the announcement of Peter Obi as the new president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” But let’s say that didn’t happen; given that the government is rumored to be making preparations for another election, it won’t be out of the ordinary for us to do the same thing. We should get ready for another election.

“Having said that on the side, I feel it necessary to state unequivocally that we have presented the court with all of our evidence, and we are very hopeful that the judge will rule in our favor.

“We have a lot of faith that if this case goes all the way up to the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court, they will also rule in our favor,” the lawyer said. We are doing everything in our power to maintain our faith and hope.

“In nine months, we are able to change the political narratives of this country, and we must build on that success so that we can have a more formidable party that we can strategically position for the downtrodden people of Nigeria,” said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ambassador Oseloka Obaze, Director of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign, participated in the discussion by making a contribution. In it, he urged members of the Obi-Datti party who are currently residing in the diaspora to view the fight for regaining the party’s mandate as a collective responsibility.
