NAPTIP arrests two girls over sale of 3-month-old child for N2m in Ekiti

Following tipoff from sources, two individuals alleged to be concerned within the buying and selling of a child have been arrested by the Nationwide Company for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Individuals (NAPTIP) along side the Ekiti State Liaison Workplace in Ilupeju-Ekiti.

Talking with our correspondent on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, the Head of NAPTIP Ekiti Liaison Workplace, Oladimeji Samson, mentioned a workforce of operatives led by Mr Emuze John from NAPTIP Headquarters alongside officers of the company in Ekiti arrested the suspects.

In line with him, one of many suspects, Ifeoma Ejide, allegedly offered a feminine child to at least one Mrs Funmilayo Ibitoye, who was suspected to have purchased the child for N2 million.

Oladimeji mentioned, “My colleagues got here from Abuja for a case of a girl that has a child manufacturing facility at Owo, Ondo State and the girl was arrested in Owo and from there they traced the place she offered the child.

“The client purchased the child on the price of N2 million and she or he is but to pay all whereas her husband relies in United States. The lady that offered this child has confessed that she is into child manufacturing facility.

“This subject is rampant and customary in Ekiti. Most of those folks (child consumers) use herbs and they’re advised to not go to any hospital in order that they will’t be tracked. We requested her ‘how lengthy have you ever breastfed the kid?’ and she or he mentioned the primary time there was no milk. This case have reference to others circumstances.”

Throughout cross examination, Ejide confessed to the crime.

In the meantime, Funmilayo, the suspected purchaser in Ekiti, denied the allegation, claiming that she delivered the child and was medically taken care of by Ejide.

She famous that she has waited for her child for 25 years, including, “They mentioned I purchase child, I didn’t purchase any child. I used to be arrested in Ekiti. Though I didn’t give delivery within the hospital however on the girl’s home in Owo (referring to Ifeoma). We usually purchase herbs from her in 3 months for N100,000 and N300,000 for 9 months.

“After giving delivery, the herb is N20,000. I paid by switch. I’ve been paying by switch. My sister adopted me to Owo to ship the child.”
