As Christians all over the world celebrate this year’s Easter, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the Labour Party, Alex Ombugu, has called for prayers for the state and Nigeria to tackle numerous challenges including insecurity and the recent hardship being faced by the citizens.

This was contained in an Easter message signed by Ombugu and made available to journalists in Lafia, the state capital, on Sunday.

He called on Christians to use the period for sober reflection and show love to all citizens of the country, especially to the less-privileged ones as exhibited by Jesus Christ.

Easter is an annual festival celebrated by Christians on every March 31st.

It denotes the resurrection of Christ and the washing away of sins, and it’s seen as a season of sharing and caring for families and the less privileged.

The LP chairman further explained that for Nigeria to achieve its goals, there is the need to end the hostility, intolerance and misunderstandings amongst religious and ethnic groups in the country.

He said, “As Christians all over the world celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, I urge all Nigerians to forgive one another and show love to all like Christ did.

“I also urge all citizens of the country to take the Easter celebration as a time for sincere reflections and reconciliation.

“We should pray for our dear state (Nasarawa), and our country Nigeria so that God will give our leaders the ideas to be able to tackle the insecurity and hardship ravaging the nation.

“Jesus Christ taught humility, friendship, leadership and organization with exemplary character. We should learn to be Christ–like in all our day-to-day activities wherever we find ourselves.”
