Nigeria records over 4,000 new Covid cases as infection surges

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced 4,035 new cases of Covid-19 in the country.

According to the health agency which also announced two deaths, the new infections were recorded in 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The NCDC made this known in an update on its official Facebook page last night.

The development brings the total number of cases so far to 231,413 with 2,991, while about 211,853 patients have been successfully treated.

According to the health agency, over 13,000 patients are on admission at isolation and treatment centres across the country.

The data obtained from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control also showed that as of Tuesday, the country had recorded 847.44 per cent increase in Covid-19 cases within one month.

Meanwhile, the NCDC on its Facebook page advised Nigerians concerning Yuletide celebrations.

The NCDC said, “There is an increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases, celebrate responsibly, we encourage all Nigerians to take collective responsibility”.
