The Ondo State government has vowed to deal decisively with anyone planning to cause unrest in the state under the guise of agitating for the Yoruba Nation.

The latest warning came on the heels of an attempt by separatist Yoruba Nation agitators to take over the Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

Reports say the agitators, putting on army camouflage and armed with rifles, attempted to hoist their flag on the premises of the Oyo State House of Assembly but their action was foiled by the security agencies.

But speaking on Monday, the Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Information, Olugbenga Omole, explained that the government will not support any action that can truncate the peace and harmony enjoyed by the residents of the state.

Omole added that the government would go against anyone or people working against the efforts of the federal government.

“We will arrest them here in Ondo. We will not support anybody that is against the federal government,” he said.

Daily Trust reports that those championing the Yoruba Nation are canvassing the breakaway of the Yoruba people from Nigeria.
