Palliative distribution: Gov Yusuf warns saboteurs

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has issued a stern warning to the committee responsible for distributing state palliatives, cautioning them against any form of sabotage.

The governor emphasized that there would be severe consequences for anyone found diverting food items meant for the vulnerable population, as such actions would be dealt with decisively, in accordance with the law.

Speaking yesterday during the flag-off of the 4th distribution of palliatives across the 44 local government areas of the state, Governor Yusuf stressed the need for transparent and targeted distribution to ensure that the food items reached the intended groups and individuals.

He specifically addressed the Local Government Palliative Distribution Compliance Committee, urging them to adhere strictly to the guidelines.

The governor announced the distribution of 112,220 bags of 25kg of rice to vulnerable households across the state, with the distribution starting from the Kano South Senatorial District.

He said the distribution programme aimed to benefit 224,440 households, focusing on the vulnerable and needy during Ramadan.

Before the distribution commenced, Governor Yusuf personally inspected the rice to ensure its quality.

The Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, provided details of the distribution plan, including allocations to each local government and the system for distribution.
