Following their Supreme Court setback, President Bola Tinubu has offered a hand of fellowship to Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidates of the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), respectively.

In order to develop Nigeria and advance the nation, Tinubu urged Atiku and Obi to work with him.

The Supreme Court reportedly rejected Atiku and Obi’s challenges against Tinubu’s victory on Thursday.

In response, Tinubu stated that his Supreme Court win has further galvanized and energized his resolve to treat Nigerians of all political persuasions, tribes, and religions with honor and utmost respect.

In a statement headed “It is time for us to build our great nation together,” the President responded to the verdict.

The statement in its entirety is below.

I applaud the Supreme Court’s Justice John I. Okoro-led panel’s decision regarding the presidential election petitions that the Democratic Party and Labour Party submitted to contest the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s decision.

Without fear or favor, the court has fairly considered every question raised in the petitions based on the merits of the law.

Given the significant ruling of today, it is beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Honourable Justices’ diligent work and unwavering professionalism in overseeing this case have further solidified and embedded our constitutional democracy and electoral jurisprudence deeper into our national identity.

Even though the ruling today has put an end to the contentious debate about who actually won the 2023 presidential election and satisfied the legal requirements outlined in the constitution, I want to stress that I have never once, not even for a second, lost faith in our country’s legal system because I am confident that our sacred courts will always provide justice to all Nigerians in all situations. In the face of intense pressure and intimidation tactics from certain political figures, the court proved its unwavering dedication to preserving the rule of law for the betterment and protection of humankind.

Today, the people of Nigeria reaffirmed that my party, the All Progressives Congress, had legitimately and freely earned the popular mandate. our has allowed me to lead our wonderful country during a turbulent time of historic reforms in its history.Read Also: Andy Uba congratulates President Tinubu on his victory at Supreme Court

I respectfully and solemnly embrace today’s judicial triumph with a strong sense of duty and a burning desire to meet the enormous difficulties facing our people, all while expressing my sincere thankfulness to God Almighty.

The victory of today has further strengthened and energized my resolve to serve Nigerians of all political persuasions, tribes, and religions with honor and complete respect for their differing viewpoints and common values.

We now have even more momentum behind our Renewed Hope program for a more powerful and prosperous Nigeria, and I will keep working day and night to create a nation that fulfills our shared hopes and dreams.

As members of a single household, we must continue to labor together to construct our nation in the present. Now more than ever, the power of our variety and the great citizenship that unites us must drive us to focus the energies of our people on creating a more robust, united, wealthy nation.

I hope that in the coming days and months, the spirit of patriotism will rise and help our administration to better the lot of Nigerians. I’m ready to accept the contributions that every Nigerian makes to support and bolster our country’s advancement.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to every Nigerian for accepting the call to serve our nation. I make it once more: working with my team and depending on God’s grace, I will work to meet and surpass your expectations in terms of good governance and service delivery.
