Akeredolu, the Chairman of the South West Governor’s Forum, also charged Tinubu with focusing on socioeconomic programmes for Nigerian emancipation.
According to reports, Akeredolu gave the advice in a congratulatory message titled ‘Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR: Stepping into History’ on Monday.
He congratulated Tinubu on his resilience, equanimity, doggedness, and uncommon tenacity in achieving pre-administration goals.
The governor also congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on being a part of the team that will “steer the country’s affairs for the next four years.”
“We must remind ourselves of the importance of remaining focused on socioeconomic programmes for our people’s emancipation,” he said.
“This is not the time to extol the electoral triumphs of the last general election.” It is not the season for recriminations.
“The rhetoric conveying the divisive nuance of “we against them” should have ended with the announcement of the winners by the electoral body, INEC.”
“This is the moment when all new leaders must reject all tendencies that promote and deepen cleavages of various hues.” On deck, all hands must be deployed.
“The task ahead is so massive that attending to frivolities that could distract the new administration is inappropriate.”
According to Akeredolu, the first thing the new administration must do is assist in the birth of a new constitutional order that carefully considers the principles of federalism.
The governor also stated that the President must ensure that all those who seek to pit Nigerians against one another are “neutralised.”
“The success recorded in fixing the fundamental flaws in the 1999 constitution, as amended, will largely determine the pattern and depth of the deliberative governance designed to achieve development,” he added.
“All existential issues will be realistically addressed.” It is our responsibility to encourage the new government to follow this honourable path.
“The new thinking should anticipate active participation by the federation’s constituent units as coordinate partners in revenue generation and the security of citizens’ lives and property.”
“I have no doubt that the president is prepared to carry out this mandate of integrity.” His record of service in Lagos state leaves no room for doubt about his ability to turn things around for the better.
“The federal government should expect robust engagements from the government and people of Ondo state, who demonstrated their trust in the new leadership by overwhelming support for the president in the last presidential election.”
“On behalf of the government and the people of Ondo state, I join other party leaders and members in congratulating the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on his successful assumption of the leadership mantle.”
