THE United States has again called on President Muhammadu Buhari to reverse the ban on Twitter.

In a statement today, the current administrator of the US Agency for International Development, Samantha Power, said the suspension is a denial of free speech.

“There are nearly 40 million Twitter users in #Nigeria, and the country is home to Africa’s largest tech hub. This suspension is nothing more than state-sanctioned denial of free speech and should be reversed immediately. #KeepItOn,” she tweeted.

The U.S had earlier condemned the action which it described as unconstitutional in a statement issued a few days after the ban.

The recent reaction came after former President, Donald Trump, hailed the Federal Government’s decision.

“Who are they to dictate good and evil, if they themselves are evil?” Trump said in a statement yesterday.

He urged other countries to ban Twitter and Facebook for not allowing “free and open speech”.
