Two people have been detained, according to the Ondo State Police Command, in relation to the death of a man named Ajayi Ajisegiri in the state’s Ifedore Local Government Area’s Irese Community.

It was learned that the two suspects, Dada Ologundundun and John Samson, are suspected of strangling the deceased, who served as the town’s oracle’s custodian, and stealing the oracle.

The incident was said to have brought the neighbourhood to its knees.

One of the suspects was reportedly apprehended by locals as he attempted to leave the town, according to a source in the neighbourhood.

A day after he (the deceased) allegedly threatened to report the suspect to the community for stealing the community’s oracle known as “Osho Osi Ode,” which was kept in the deceased’s custody, neighbours allegedly saw the dead body of the deceased in his room.

The deceased allegedly visited the landlady of the suspect, Mrs. Beatrice Ademeti, a day before the incident and warned the suspect to give back any items he had taken from his home or he would report him to the neighbourhood. She claimed that the suspect, who had only lived in the neighbourhood for six months, claimed to be a herbalist.

The deceased, who I overheard screaming at the suspect the night of the incident, threatened to report the case to the entire town the following day if the community’s property wasn’t returned. Ademeti said, “The suspect cannot say he is not responsible for Ajisegiri’s death.

The suspect later returned at night to give Baba three alcohol sachets, which put the deceased to sleep.

Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation had started.
